FILMING BEGINS ON CAGNÀZ, THE NEW RAI SERIES DIRECTED BY ALESSANDRO ROIA AND STARRING GUIDO CAPRINO
A RAI FICTION – GARBO PRODUZIONI CO-PRODUCTION

Filming has begun on CAGNÀZ, the new crime series directed by Alessandro Roia, a Rai Fiction – Garbo Produzioni co-production produced by Maite Carpio, in collaboration with Rai Com and with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region through the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission. Starring in the role of Cagnàz is Guido Caprino, joined by Eugenio Franceschini, Dora Romano, and Sergio Romano.

The project—created by Carlo Lucarelli and Giampiero Rigosi—combines action, irony, and narrative tension, bringing to the screen deeply human and unexpected characters and stories set in a Rimini suspended between Felliniesque magic, nightclub lights, and the long shadow of the ’Ndrangheta.

The series follows the investigations of Inspector Marco Cagnani, known as “Cagnàz,” a nonconformist yet brilliant policeman who lives by his own rules. Cagnàz knows every secret of the Romagna Riviera—and its criminal underworld—better than anyone. Raised among lifeguards and fishermen, he lives on his boat moored in the Rimini dock, alongside his beloved dog Bobmarley, a former narcotics sniffer dog. At work he is joined by Roberto Ossani (Eugenio Franceschini), a strict and initially mistrustful colleague who forms with him an unlikely but highly effective duo. Opposites in every way, through sharp intuition and irreverent methods, the two solve cases by putting their differences aside, bound by a weary affection and a sincere—if unspoken—friendship.

But Cagnàz harbors an obsession: bringing down Maria Caterina Picciaferro, known as “La Zia” (Dora Romano), a ruthless ’Ndrangheta boss. Between crime and dark humor, their showdown will be inevitable.
CAGNÀZ will unfold across 8 episodes of 50 minutes, filmed over approximately 14 weeks in Rimini and the surrounding province.
