25 years after the passing of Lucio Battisti a tribute to one of the most beloved italian artists of all time among memories of friends and colleagues, unreleased material, and exclusive performances by Gianluca Grignani, Noemi, Giovanni Caccamo, And Giusy Ferreri with the extraordinary participation of Mogol.

Who doesn’t know Lucio Battisti’s songs—and who, in their own way, can say they haven’t had Lucio as a friend? His songs are collective emotions, moments to be lived together or alone, dreams made to smile, think, cry, dance, and enjoy; songs capable of transcending time. All this and much more is the extraordinary repertoire of Lucio Battisti. But who was this artist, one of the most beloved of all time?

To mark the 25th anniversary of his passing, the event docufilm “LUCIO PER AMICO. RICORDANDO BATTISTI” arrives on Rai 1, prime time on Wednesday, September 13. Conceived and written by Maite Carpio and produced by Garbo Produzioni in collaboration with Rai Documentari, the film attempts to recount the human and artistic adventure of Lucio Battisti through an extensive and, in some cases, previously unseen collection of Italian and international archival materials, combined with the memories of those who knew him—first and foremost Mogol, his companion in art and life.

Pietruccio Montalbetti, Roby Matano, Gianni Dall’Aglio, Mario Lavezzi, Franco Daldello, Mara Maionchi, Caterina Caselli, Adriano Pappalardo, Franco Mussida, and Tony Cicco guide viewers in discovering the “Battisti mystery,” a central figure in the musical culture of an entire country—an artist who rejected stardom and visibility to remain true to himself. An exceptional witness is Giulio Rapetti, known as Mogol, at the center of an extensive interview retracing the friendship and long collaboration of this memorable creative duo.

Punctuating the story are the songs that revolutionized the Italian musical landscape: many performed by Battisti himself, others through exclusive performances by Gianluca Grignani, Noemi, Giovanni Caccamo, and Giusy Ferreri. Under the artistic direction of Maestro Enrico Melozzi, each artist interprets—with their unique and personal style—four iconic songs: Il tempo di morire, Amarsi un po’, Emozioni, and Io vivrò. Four successes from a repertoire that stands as a unicum in music history, still capable of speaking to entire generations today.
