L’Italia a due Ruote

Progress, dynamism, competition. Throughout the 20th century, the bicycle became an object of desire—symbolizing emancipation and, above all, rebirth in the postwar era. From Alfonsina Strada to great champions such as Girardengo, Binda, and Guerra, when cycling became a mass sport, up to the legendary rivalry that ignited the nation from the 1930s onward: Bartali vs. Coppi. After the war, amid piles of rubble, the Giro d’Italia also started up again. And Italy needed only two wheels to rise once more.
