Why does Jesus appear first to a woman? That woman is Mary of Magdala, the first to reach the tomb and, finding it empty, to proclaim the Resurrection. This documentary reconstructs the often complex and controversial relationship between women and the Church.

Thirty years later, John Paul II’s apostolic letter Ordinatio Sacerdotalis definitively forbids women from becoming priests.
