Who we are
Garbo Produzioni Srl is an independent production company founded in 2017 by Maite Carpio.
Garbo is known for producing successful TV series for major Italian broadcasters, as well as various documentaries and films.
It is committed to the creation and production of high-quality television series for both Italian and international audiences. It has always been attentive to development and the creative process.
Its international vocation has led it to establish a presence in Spain with Garbo Stories, in Madrid.
Maite Carpio
President and founder of Anthos Produzioni, Garbo Produzioni, and Garbo Stories, companies active in the audiovisual sector, as well as partner and Vice President of Leone Film Group/Lotus and Onza Entertainment.
As a director, she has written and directed numerous documentaries, including Domenico Modugno. L’italiano che incantò il mondo (2024) and Lucio per amico. Ricordando Battisti (2023), documentary events broadcast in prime time on Rai 1, and Vite sottili (2023) for Warner Bros. Discovery, a journey inside the eating disorders ward of the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, broadcast on Real Time.
Among her film productions, she co-produced Soy Nevenka (2024) with Kowalski Film and Feel Good, directed by Icíar Bollaín; El Hotel de Los Líos (2023), co-produced with Blogmedia, with the participation of Amazon and Disney; Lo que queda de ti (2024); and L’amore rubato (2016) in co-production with Rai Cinema.
With Garbo Produzioni, she produced the series L’ispettore Coliandro (2018–2021) and La porta rossa (2019–2021) for Rai 2, and the two seasons of Il silenzio dell’acqua (2018–2020) for Canale 5.
She has made documentaries that have been presented and awarded at festivals around the world, such as Sorriso Amaro (2009 – Nastro d’Argento 2010) for Rai Educational; Papa Francesco – La storia di Jorge Bergoglio (2014) for Rai 3; Romero, voce dei senza voce (2010) for Rai3; Verdi Genio Italiano (2013) for Rai3; Hungry for waste (2015) for Rai Storia.
She conceived and produced the 20-episode docuseries Opera Italiana (2017) for Rai 5, in collaboration with the daily newspaper La Repubblica, on the genesis of the most famous operas.
She also curated the theatre festival for the Teatro Parioli entitled Nessun Dorma (2023), dedicated to Italian opera in collaboration with “Fabbrica,” the Young Artist Program of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
